About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

IF I fly in to Shanghai and obtain a 72 hour free transit. Can I travel to Zi'an province?

I read "Passengers transiting in Shanghai, Zhejiang, or Jiangsu can move around the three places". I will have a 49 hour layover in Shanghai. Am I allowed to leave the area to go to Zi'an province to see Terracotta Warriors? I fly in to Shanghai and back out of Shanghai.

Also we have a 12 hour layover in Kunming. Can I apply for the visa in both locations? Just wondering if there is a way to get out of the airport in Kunming as well?

Steacy, no, you cannot fly to Xian city to see Terracotta Warriors if you enjoy the 72 hour free transit in Shanghai because Xian city doesn’t belong to Shanghai, Zhejiang, or Jiangsu province.
If you will stop over both Shanghai and Kunming, you cannot enjoy the 72 hour free transit any more.
