Layover and airline change

I am arriving to Chengdu at 09:00 in the morning and and flying to Bangkok with a different airline. This means that I need pick up my luggage and exit the terminal to then check in again. I have no intention to go into town.

The flight out of Chengdu to Bangkok is at 21:00.

Do I need any type of visa?
Thank you

Al, you don’t need any entry permit because you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit in Chengdu. If you need to pick up your luggage and check in again, you just need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the immigration office inside the airport.
