About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

7 hours connection in Beijing

Hello,
American citizen flying from Thailand to Los Angeles with 7 hours stopover in Beijing.
Can I use 72 hours visa option to visit Beijing city center?

Michael, you may be given the 24 hour direct transit because you just stop for 7 hours. You can apply for a free temporary stay permit at the airport and then you can go out to visit the city center, but I’m afraid time is too tight. You need to move quickly.
