24 hour transit - am i eligible to get out of airport in pvg (shanghai)visit near by

Me and my wife (US Permanent Resident - green card holder) will be travelling to Bangkok from USA. We have a long transit in Shanghai (16 hours). Planning to visit Airport near by area in this timeframe. Can we get an on arrival short term permit to get out of airport area? Please advice.ThanksMD S

Hello there! You are qualified for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai if you travel like that. After arriving at Shanghai airport, you can go to the immigration counter to apply for a temporary stay permit which is free of charge, and then you can leave the airport to visit the nearby areas.
