What is the longest number of days for l (tourist visa) for china, if travelling for second time.

One of my friend is planning to come to China on tourist L type for second time, so for how many days he can get the Tourist L type and should he enter multiple entries or single entry?? Last time when he traveled on tourist L type he got offered for job and worked in Shanghai for few months on work Z type. So is there any other prime details to be mentioned??
