About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I will be transiting through Beijing with an 18-hour layover in December

and I plan to hire a driver and go hike around the Great Wall before returning for my connecting flight. I am a United States' citizen. Would I be able to go to the Great Wall with the 72-hour visa?

Mary, if the country you will fly to is different from the last country you departed, you will qualify for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing and you are able to visit the Great Wall.
