What clothing would be appropriate, winter, summer or some of both?

The temperature of Beijing during that period should be 35~45F and it is very likely to snow. Shanghai can be warmer of 50~60F. You are advised to take down jackets and boots to cope with the coldness in Beijing. Thin jackets and sweathers are also needed while your stay in Shanghai.
