About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

14 hours stop over in transit to johannesburg

Hi i have booked return flights from johannesburg to Phuket via Beijing on air China on the return flight back to Johannesburg we have a stop over with a 14 hour delay can we use the free transit policy of 72 hours to do some sight seeing for the day before we fly back home to Johannesburg and what dockuments do i need????

You are not eligible for the 72 hour free transit if you hold South African passport, but you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit if you travel like that. You can apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport and then you can go to the downtown area in Beijing for a visit. You need to show your passport and the onward ticket. The stay permit is free of charge.
