Attend to CantonFair in October

Hi, I'm a Dutch citizen and would like to attend the Canton Fair in October 2016. I want to fly to Hong Kong and apply for a single entry visum to PRC.

Can you please advice me if this the best way to ensure my visit to the fair?

You can just apply for a single-entry tourist L type for PRC to attend the canton fair, but you are advised to apply for it in your home country.
