Invitation letter requirements

Hi,

I am planning a China trip in Janurary this year. I am planning on getting an invitation there from friends. I am Australian, however previously lived there for 7 years with my dad who was there for buisness. I will be staying with the friends who sign the invitation letter in Shanghai, however will then be going travelling to places such as yangshuo etc. Will i need to provide the hotel bookings for the other places, or is it enough to have the invitation letter and just write the places I will be visiting?
