About:China Train

I have successfully booked my ticket.

Should I pick up the ticket two days or one day prior to my trip, or is it enough to arrive 2 hours prior to departure and get the ticket from the booth? Can the tickets only be picked up at the departure station, or any station? I am bound to leave from Shanghai Hongqiao to Beijing.

Tickets should be taken as soon as possible (pick up the tickets one day prior departure is recommended) since there would be a lot of people waiting at the ticketing booth, queuing for one to two hours is normal. And you should arrived at the railway station 1.5 hours for security check as sometimes there would be lots of people queuing up.

Tickets can be picked up at any station, however, they will charge you RMB5 per ticket if you are picking up the tickets which are not departing from the same city.
