Do I need a visa to check into a shanghai hotel while im on a 24 hour layover

I am flying R/T to SEOUL, with a 12 hour layover in Shanghai [pvg}.I want to go to shanghai disney during that time. Then on my return flight home I have a 24 hour layover and have booked a hotel room at shanghai Disney. Can i apply for atravel permit at PVG airport? Also i heard i need to have an entry permit to check into the hotel. Is this true
