About:Wolong National Nature Reserve

Holding a panda cub for a picture.

Before I make my travel arrangements, I would like to be able to be assured that holding a panda cub for the sake of a picture is possible to do. It is my understanding that all pandas are now back at the Wolong National Reserve following the earthquake in 2008. Is this something I can do? If so, what are the guidelines for advance booking? An email address would be appreciated. Also, do you know if I can hold a cub at the Panda Base in Chengdu? I'm considering a river cruise which includes a stop at the base in CD. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Well, not all of them are in Wolong. Nowadays, you can only hold the cute animal and take a photo at Dujiangyan Panda Base, not the one in Chengdu. You can try booking in advance. Their email address is pandaeducatecenter163.com. Good luck!

Thanks Susan for the information. Do you know of a river cruise that will allow me to visit the Bifengxia Panda Base?

I am afraid that there is no river cruise available. Sorry for that!

Hi Susie. If you are travelling to Wolong then please visit the grave of the Giant Panda Mao Mao who died in the 2008 Sichuan earthquakes. Months before the earthquake she had given birth to her 3rd cub and that was also shown in discovery networks-animal planet's TV Movie Pandamonium's first episode. After watching that episode when i came to know about Mao Mao's death i couldn't control my tears. If you visit her grave then please offer her an apple or a bread.
