About:Visa Policy of China

Is visa required if landing in HK then traveling to Nanning via train through Macau,

Guangzhou to get an overnight train from Nanning to Hanoi, Vietnam if under 24 hrs. Potentially may stay overnight in HK and would go over 24 hrs.

Or other option if we flew directly into Macau or Guangzhou and stayed under 24 hrs before catching the train from Nanning?

Hi there! You can enjoy free entry to HK and Macau, so no entry permit will be needed.
If your layover time within mainland PRC is less than 24 hours, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit there. In this case, no entry permit for mainland PRC is required.
