Well, you don't need to hire a tour guide. From downtown area, you can take metro line 16 and get off at Wild Animal Park Station. Then take bus Huinan Line 6 to arrive at the entrance of the park.
In addition, from downtown area to Zoo, take metro line 10 to the Zoo Station. Then walk northwest around 0.6 miles.
Sorry, I cannot estimate the exact cost unless you provide your starting place. :)

Hi city hotel Shanghai or how much (roughly), would it cost to get a taxi from both places? Can I also walk ok around the safari park?as I don't drive? Or is there transport of some kind to take me round?
When I'm in Hongkong I want to get to chimalong safari park, but again is it easy to get to? Must I take a tour? Is there a all day tour?
Or must I get a taxi?im staying best western causeway bay,iv heard the zoo in bejing is closed, is that temporary or permentantly loses? Thanks

The taxi fare may be around CNY 160-170 to the park; CNY 35-40 to the zoo.

Well, you can walk around at the walking area to see birds, monkeys, and small animals. But you have to take the sightseeing bus at the bus-riding area to see the large beasts.

You don't have to join a tour or take a taxi. You can easily get there by yourself. First of all, take bus line 107 or 171 from Canal Road West Station to Cross Harbour Tunnel Station. Next, take a train to Guangzhou East from Hung Hom Railway Station. Upon arrival, take a free shuttle bus to it.

Yes, the one in Beijing has reopened since August 26th, 2016.
