You can choose to collect the paper ticket at the railway station directly and usually it would be better if you can get there around 90min in advance for the collection in case you are in a long waiting line.

I don't have Chinese 2ND ID card, can I use my passport at automatic ticket machine?

No, you need to go to the ticket window, the automatic machine would not work for passports.
