About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

I have been studying at a university in PRC, where I received a residency permit until July 31 2019.

However, due to personal reasons I had to finish my studies in April of this year. I returned to my home country and then told my university that I no longer planned on studying there. As a result, they told me that they would cancel my visa and residency permit. I recently got admitted entry into another university in PRC. I received my jw202 form and admission letter and went to my local Chinese consulate to apply for a new X type. However, because my residency permit had not been stamped saying that it had been cancelled, the chinese consulate told me that they couldn't issue me a new X type as it looked like I still had a valid residency permit, and told me that I should just fly back to China. However, I am worried that as my first university told me that they had cancelled my residency permit, I will get in trouble when i attempt to get through customs at the airport in PRC. What should I do and will I get in trouble if I fly back even though my local Chinese consulate told me I only need a new X type and I also have my jw202 form and admission letter from my new university?

Based on what I know, once your exit PRC, your student X type and residence permit will be cancelled. I’m afraid you cannot use the current residence permit to enter PRC.
You have to apply for a new student X type to enter PRC. Maybe you can find an agency to help you handle this problem because the agency can always find a way to cope with such kind of dilemma.
