About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

HK - Shanghai - Dubai

My situation is like this. I have a Chinese visa for 30 days which will end next Monday. For some personal reasons I would like to stay 10 days longer but I don't want to overstay the visa so my plan is to go to Hongkong and get a new 10-14 days tourist entry permit. If everything is ok I would change my return ticket from Shanghai based on the new entry permit, but if I don't manage to get the new entry permit (and my current one is single entry) I would use the 72-hour transit time to reenter Shanghai through a flight from HongKong to Shanghai, pick up my staff from my hotel and continue on my origianl flight back to Europe (through Dubai).

if thet works I would be entering China from HongKong by a direct flight, enter on 72-hour perimt and fly out of China on my original return ticket.

Is that ok?

If you will travel like this HK-Shanghai-Dubai-Europe, and your layover time in Shanghai is less than 144 hours, you can enjoy the free transit there.
