About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

my flight arrives to guangzhou international airport.

I have a 17 hour layover, I was wondering if I could get on the train in guangzhou and take it to hong kong. would that work with the 72 hour free visa?

Kelby, if you will do that, you cannot enjoy the 72 hour free transit in Guangzhou. But you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Guangzhou. If so, no entry permit is needed either. However, you need to have a ticket from Guangzhou to HK beforehand.
