Do I need a Vis for China to transit?Is 1 hour 25 mins enough time?Will I need to pickup luggage and recheck it?

May I know if you hold the through ticket? If so, also confirm if the United Airlines have the luggage check through service. If so, your time can be enough for transfer and all procedures can be finished within the transfer area, without need to collect and reclaim your luggage.
