How to say a Chinese persons name?

Hello,

We have a new lady at work, her name is Li Li (first and last name). Everyone says both names everytime they refer to her. Eg: " Hey Li Li there is someone on the phone for you." In Canada, when we refer to each other we generally only use our given name... Like Joe Smith is referred to as Joe... We dont say " John Smith the phone is for you" What would make her feel most comfortable?

Hi, it is ok to call her Li Li. You may also call her Li or Xiao Li. It can also be acceptable.

Why not ask her what she is most comfortable being addressed as?

call someone with a full name isn't an issue in China. if just colleagues, can call her what the others do; if friends, or want to be more friendly, can ask her what would she like to be called.
