Which one better Changbai Mountain or Changbai ski resort?

Hi. I'll be going to Changbaishan in January 2017. But I'm not sure which one is better to stay at. Changbai Mountain or Changbai ski resort?

I looked in Changbai Xidong Chalet situated at the foot of Changbai Mounain and scenAry from picture were very nice.I also looked at Sheratot Changbai Ski resort which was nice as well but a bit expensive.

I just wanna know which area is better to stay and how far is the mountain from ski resort? I'd like to do both hiking and skiing.
