In reviewing websites the Badaling Great Wall is the most crowded? Is there another within the same driving distance time that has less crowds?

Yes, Badaling is the most popular as well as the most crowded section. If you prefer a place that has less crowds, I would recommend Mutianyu Great Wall for you. You can take cable car and experience the slideway there, which is quite interesting.
