Z Visa requirements diffrence

Hi,
Are the requirements for Z type different if I apply in my own country or in China? I know that a degree and work refernce is required, but the embassy's website doesn't mention it. Also, when my friend applied last year they didn't need these. Do you know why so?
Thank you, Andrew

Andrew, the degree and work experience certificate are used to apply for the work permit and invitation letter of a duly authorized unit, and your employer will apply for these two documents for you.
When you apply for the work Z type, the required documents are the same no matter in your home country or in PRC. You need to prepare those materials: your passport and its copy, the application form, a passport-sized color photo, work permit and invitation letter of a duly authorized unit. Of course, the consular officers may also require you to provide other relevant documents according to your situation.
