china national work permit n passport due to expire soon, but wants to renew work permit

Our employee PRC national works under work permit expire 21 September 2016.  His passport expires on the 24 Oct 2017.   He is willing to renew his work permit with the company for another 2 years.  Will the embassy be able to renew his passport and for how long?  Where should he go for his passport renewal and what are the documents needed for this process?

I’m afraid he cannot renew his passport now because usually, one can renew his/her passport if its validity is less than one year. So he should wait for some time and renew it in November. Usually, he can get a new passport with validity of 10 years. He should renew it at the embassy of PRC and those documents are needed: the application form, 2 recently-taken passport photos, his passport and its copy, and his residence permit in Singapore.
