Applying for a Chinese visa in Australia as a Dutch citizen

Hey,
I'm planning on visiting China to see a Chinese friend at the end of September. I'm currently in Australia on a working holiday visa. Can I easily apply for a PRC entry permit in one of the major cities in Australia as a Dutch citizen or should I go to Hong kong? Where would I apply in Australia?

Michelle, you can apply for it in Australia. You should apply for it at the CVASC and the area you live should belong to its consular district. There are fives CVASCs in those cities respectively: Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.
