About:China Visa Application in USA

I am a US Citizen, I plan to visit Hong Kong, Shanghai for 4 days,

then I will take a cruise from Shanghai. When I return I plan to visit Beijing for 2 days then will return to Hong Kong.

1. Do I need a visa?
2. If so, which one you would recommend?
3. Where I can get one?

1. You don’t need it for HK because US passport holders can enter HK freely and stay there for less than 90 days, but you need to apply for an entry permit for mainland PRC.
2. You are advised to apply for a tourist L type.
3. You should apply for it at the embassy of PRC in US.
