can anyone advise on what visa i need?

I am a British Citizen visiting Hong Kong in January for 4 days, I would like to visit Shenzen for a couple of days.

You are eligible to get Shenzhen VOA at border. But it only allows a stay of no more than 5 days. If you want to stay longer, you are suggested to apply for a Chinese visa in advance in UK.
