Do I need a degree?

Good day. I was offered a position to teach English at a registered school and would like to know if needing a degree is a must. I have a teaching CELTA qualification. Is there a way around this?

Mike, usually, the bachelor degree is needed when you apply for a work Z type.
Because you will teach English in PRC, if you are not native English speakers, you should provide a master’s degree or above obtained from a university in a native English speaking country.
Actually, if you will teach in a small city in PRC, it may not be that strict.

Greetings Mike – the minimum requirements are a BA, a clear absolute minimum of two years’ professional working experience since graduating and a written reference to support this. A medical is also required, and a further medical will need to be taken in China. For teachers the absolute minimum age is now 27 years whilst for other professionals the absolute minimum age is 24 years. There is no official way around the aforementioned for obtaining a legal work Z type called the ‘residence permit’.
