I want to take the train from Chengdu South to Emeishan at 8:47 in August. At around what time do I need to be at the station?

With paper ticket in hand 40min would be enough. If you need to collect the paper ticket first on the day of travel, maybe a little earlier would be better. The waiting line of collection can be very long sometimes. So if possible, 90min in advance would be better.
