Request Chinese Tourist visa as a tourist in Sri Lanka

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am travelling to Sri Lanka soon and I will stay there for a full month. I would like to continue my travel onwards to China by flying to Shanghai or around. I am Spanish citizen but I have been out of Spain for a year, that is why I would like to request for the Chinese entry permit when visiting Sri Lanka. Is this possible?
