Multiple entry L visa for student

Hello, I currently have a multiple entry L type (90 day stay each time) however am going to be studying in China from September 2016-December 2016/January 2017 and doing an unpaid internship with a company after (Jan-May 2017). Is it ok to enter with this L type and do a visa run/ extend it at a PSB or do I have to get an X2 type? Will this multiple entry visa definitely be cancelled out? I paid for it this year and it lasts until 2018, it seems a shame for it to lose it's worth so quickly! Since I am working after, will I have to change my visa AGAIN in the year?

Toya, I understand your dilemma. Of course, the safest way is to apply for an X2 type for your study and then change it to a Z type or M type for your internship. If you don't want to lose your L type, you may use it to enter for your study and extend it or go to Macau or HK and get back to activate another stay duration. And continue to use it to cover your internship. But this is risky, you should make sure that you won't draw the attention of the police. If they found out your situation, your L type will be cancelled.
