I have a residence permit that ends August 10th will I be fined going abroad after the expiration?

My residence permit ends August 10th and my employer is doing the paperwork to renew it. If I have an emergency and need to go abroad before the new residence permit is approved, would I get a fine?

Catherine, when you renew your residence permit, your passport is needed, so I’m afraid you cannot go abroad during the process.
And once the renewal starts, even though the residence permit expires, your stay is not overstay. So don’t worry!

Than you SO MUCH Kathy for your reply. So as long as the renewal process has been started, I would not get fined for overstaying my residence permit? Also should my employer provides me with a proof that the paper are being processed in case I am being asked by Chinese officials or do they already have the information on file on their computer?

Yes, you are right!
Once the renewal application is submitted, there won’t be any problem and the information will be on file at the exit and entry administration.
