Can someone clarify which visa we need and what supporting paper work we need please?

Hi, I'm so confused. My husband and I are uk citizen's intending to visit our son who is currently working in shanghai, we will be staying with him.

You can just apply for a tourist L type to visit him. The required documents contain your passport and copy of its data page, a passport-style photo, the application form, and an invitation letter from your son as well as a downloaded and signed declaration.
