About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is this itinerary eligible for 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit ?

Qualifies or not ?

BKK (Bangkok, Thailand) => HKG (Hong Kong) => NRT (Tokyo, Japan) => PVG (Shanghai, China) [144 hr waiver]=> BKK (Bangkok, Thailand)

Yes, the only part they look at is immediately before and after Shanghai so as long as you arrive from country A (in your case Japan) and depart to country B (Thailand), that is fine. Whatever happens before Japan is irrelevant as far as the TWOV is concerned.
