About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

TAIPEI-PUDONG-TAIPEI

Stay <72hrs. As a Canadian, flying from Taiwan to Shanghai for a weekend, do I qualify for the 72-hour free transit or must I apply for a tourist visa?

Cheers

Robert, you have to have a third destination. If you want to fly to Taipei directly from Shanghai, you should apply for a tourist entry permit in advance. You can have a layover in a nearby country on your way back to Taipei to avoid the hassles of applying for the tourist entry permit.
