Notarisation of Master Degree obtained in South Korea for use in China

Hi, I'm from Malaysia and I've been hired by a US company to work in Ningbo, China by the end of next month. They require my highest degree to be notarised by the Chinese Embassy. I've visited the local chinese embassy in Malaysia but they've told me that I need to get my cert notarised by the Chinese Embassy in south korea as my cert was from Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (South Korea).

Is this information applicable? Must I be there in person to apply for the notarisation? Or is there any agent that I may hire?

Thank you.
