About:China Travel Tips

Bought Chinese Electric cooker & Ion but don't know how to use in India.

Do they have different socket system?

Arvinder, you are right. The voltage and socket are quite different in these two countries. You are suggested to buy an adaptor and a transformer. In this way, these devices can still work in India.

I bought adaptor yesterday but why transformer. Would these not work without transformer?

The voltage in India is around 330V if I'm right while 220V is the general voltage of CN. You are advised to buy a transformer to let the devices work safely.

Arvinder, a transformer is really not needed. Cissie is right about the socket thing, but the voltage in India should be 230V. There is really no need to buy a transformer.
