About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Cannot return to same country rule

The 72 hour visa free transit has a requirement that you are not traveling back to the same country, but what if Beijing is your second stopover like Vancouver to Tokyo (stopover for 5 days) on to Beijing (stopover for 3 days) then back to Vancouver? Does this qualify for the 72 hours free entry?
