About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Chinese national transit through HK

Hi guys,
I'm traveling to China soon. I'm starting my journey in Shenzhen. The cheapest was to get a HK return ticket and cross the border at HK and SZ (China). Will this be a problem for my Chinese gf? What will she need to get through HK without problems? Thanks in advance.

Shannon, you girlfriend needs to obtain an Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao and an “endorsement for individual visit” from the relevant Public Security Bureau Office in mainland PRC to travel to HK.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Actually, we're not planning to travel in HK, just transit through to mainland China via HK.
I.e., Australia -> HK (transit/stopover) -> Mainland China
I understand there's a 7-day allowance for Chinese to HK without needing any permit, if just 'passing through'?

If so, your girlfriend can enjoy 7-day free stay in HK.
