I want to travel from ho chi minh to Beijing then to Singapore before heading home to Aust. Does the 72 hour policy apply?

It depends on your travel schedule.If your flights Saigon to Beijing and Beijing - Singapore don´t have another stop in a chinese city, you are fine with the 72h twov.
