Length of time out of china for visa

up until now, when leaving china in order to fill the exit china every 30, 60 or 90 requirement, one only needed to pass through the border and return to china the same day. Someone has told me that requirement has changed. That now, a person must stay out of China for 24 hours...is this true? I have an M type with a 90 exit requirement..
