About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I will be from the Diamond Princess cruise that will stop at Shangai from 8am to 7 pm then to HK

Hongkong from 7am to 6pm, do I need to apply for a China visa or can I have the 72- hour free entry permit? Thanks so much for your response
