Would it be terribly hot to visit Pingyao in the middle of July?

Temperatures can get up to almost 40C at this time or being a dry heat, it's more bearable than down south.

No, it won't be that hot. I stayed there for three years and the highest temp in mid Jul. can be 32-33 degrees. There will be many cloudy days and showers may happen sometimes. Anyway, I suggest you prepare enough summer clothing.
