About:Shangri-La Travel

Would it be possible to do a day trip from Lijiang to Shangri-La and back?

Or would it be recommended to stay the night there before returning. In other words, if only visiting the town and not other places, is one day enough?

Time is not enough. A single bus ride takes about 4 hours, and a round-trip takes about 8. You do not have much time for the sightseeing, thus I suggest you stay one night in the town, and enjoy your sightseeing leisurely.
