About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Luggage question for 12 hour layover

I'm planning on taking advantage of the free 72 hour visa and visiting Great Wall during my 12 hour layover in Beijing. Do I need to pick up my luggage or will they just automatically transfer it to my next flight to US?

Michelle, if you hold a joint-way ticket, it's possible thay your luggage will be automatically transferred to the final destination. If you hold separate tickets, you may need to collect your luggage. You can double check this with your airline.
