Ways of going to Shantou from Guangzhou

Hi. Im planning to head to Shantou. Can I know the fastest way to Shantou from GZ South? I have learned that I have to go to Chaoshan and transit for the bullet train. How long will it take for the whole journey? and is there public transport in shantou?

The high speed rides to Chaoshan is around 2.5 to 3 hours. From Chaoshan Station, you can take the express bus to Shantou city. There are 2 bus routes and running around every 1 hour. This route will be faster than normal slow rides which need 8 to 9 hours.
