About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Traveling Melbourne to Shanghai for 6 days am I eligible for a 144hr visa ?

Hi,
I'm traveling from Melbourne to Shanghai for a holiday for 6 days. I also hold an Irish passport and I am on a 457 visa in Australia am I eligible to use the 144hr free transit for my ssay or do I need a tourist visa ?

Any help would be great as I am struggling to understand if I can use it or not ?

John, if you will fly to a third country or region instead of Australia after staying in Shanghai for less than 6 days, you are eligible for the 144 hour free transit there.
