Please advise if it a safe way to travel and also, are the buses air conditioned and comfortable ? Can I pre-purchase a ticket if I am from overseas ? And, is this a faster way than travel by train ?

Well, I remember that you can book the tickets 10-15 days in advance. However, the official website doesn't have English version. If you have Chinese friends, you can ask help for them. Taking the direct coach from the Central Bus Station is convenient. The schedules are from 05:30 to 22:30. There are many schedules every day. So just purchase the tickets when you arriving at the bus station. As I know, most of them are air-conditioned and comfortable.In addition, it's ok for you to tour around alone. Don't worry. :)
