Overstay, being able to pay it

Hi I was at the airport 3 years ago in beijing, immigration told me I overstayed or that there was a '0' on my visa and it was strange. they told me that it would be tough for me to come back or if i payed the 10,000 rmb i could have it taken care of. I didn't have the money back then but now I do, is there any way i can pay it like at a chinese embassy?

Pete, I’m afraid you cannot pay it now at the Chinese embassy. But because it has passed for 3 years, you can try to apply for an entry permit to re-enter PRC.

Entry permit means visa. Perhaps you can get a tourist or business entry permit, but it's hard to get a work entry permit because of your past record.
